Royalties on server farms |

"Rita" | Suppose I setup a data center for Dbisam server guys.
Would I have to pay Tim if I had 50 or so versions of the server running ? If I do and somehow I dont think thats so what a nightmare it would be. They would all need different names coz the Admin rights on a shared server would be a playground for everyone. I guess just 2 servers and just grant user rights but not Admin scratch scratch scratching my head now would be the way. Rita |

Are you thinking of running one DBISAM server per server machine ? Or something else ? -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

I have been to see a location for the servers and I can get a small room/cage that is air conditioned and it takes 8 X 47u cabinets 4 each side with enough room for a small desk + tools and whatnot. 47 X 1u servers running 4 VPS servers + 1 Dbisam server per VPS = 188 Dbisam servers per cabinet 1504 in total. I figure u have sold at least 3,500 servers and god knows how many Elevate servers I havent took that plunge yet, as just before u announced it I was heavy into FB + MYSQL but come on Dbisam CS is the best of breed no nonsense server ever. VPS has to be the best way for developers to go, a remote site u can connect to via either virtuozzo or remote desktop just work on it like your own desktop. All I need now is 376 1u boxes + 376 copies of Win2003 carved up into 4 per box with VPS + licence issues sorted. Forget it eh Rita |

We only know (and aren't telling what we sell to our customers. They, in turn, may distribute and run many times the number of servers that we sell. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

I hear they are always in demand and as most suppliers state outa stock on some models most months, then that points me in to some better boxs than others. > Well, we have no idea what the distribution looks like, and that really is > the key component as far as your concerned. Sad really its all been combined into her version on Firebird. The grand total with her buyouts including hauliers as well include some 12,000 the customers with my older stuff like dBase all took upgrades cheap as they have GPS built in and can both track the cars/vans and so on. I wish I had gone that route with full blown GPS tracking I could be sitting on my rear all day like Lambert. Rita |
