Anybody need older hardware? |

"Ralf Mimoun" | Hi,
I have a heap of old hardware here. Most of it is really outdated or simply heavy (dual Pentium II/III slot boards, big towers etc), but some stuff may be useful for someone. There are SDRAMs (all in all 9 modules, sums up to 1.5 GB), graphic cards, floppy drives, and a CD burner. Please drop me a mail if you need such hardware. Otherwise, it will end in the local recycling facility, like all the other parts (17" tube monitors, small hard drives, cases...). Ralf |

What about the local school. That's what I did with a load of old PCs a few years ago. Roy Lambert |

But even then, they are relatively new, 1.5 GHz or faster, with LCDs. I don't want flickering tube monitors for my kids. The school has computers, and the old stuff I have would be too slow. And I don't have the time to built that all together. Ralf |

Jon Lloyd Duerdoth | I've been using old boxes as Linux file servers.
Just a couple so far but they seem to work fine with the older hdwe. Jon Ralf Mimoun wrote: > Roy Lambert wrote: >> Ralf >> >> >> What about the local school. There are a lot of seniors or low income people in these groups who would like a computer for surfing the internet. As long as the computer boots and has a web browser, they'll be happy. They don't care if it has LCD screen or not. Sam |
