a CoLo so I can build the box myself with any amount of RAM and size of HD's My question's are 1> The 10Mbit bandwith I dont get, bandwith is normaly like 3GB pm I understand that part ok and I guess they dont charge you if you go over your bandwith, but whats the 10Mbit is it good or bad ? 2> Would a server such as below be able to host 10 Dbisam servers. a.. RackMount or Mini Tower b.. 10Mbit un-metered Bandwidth c.. 100Mbits internet connection d.. 16 IP Addresses Thanks Rita |

And you need only 1 IP address to host as much servers as you want. All with different ports of course. Ralf |

In one of my systems, the user gets some mb for a EQGrid - no other way because they want full config possibilities, grouping, filtering etc. With 10 Mbit LAN, they need about 5 seconds or so to load. If you don't have such scenarios, 10 MBit, is good enough. CPU: go dualcore, AMD or P4 (I'd say AMD). 2-4 GB RAM (it's cheap). The fastest disk you can get, or better two, and a RAID controller with software for automatic rebuild. Make it three disks, with automatic rebuild on the spare disk. Some mobos have these features. graphic card? Unimportant, you can take a board with integrated gpu. GBit LAN on board is standard right now. Ralf |
