Google's "revolutionary" database |

"Jerry Clancy" | Interesting piece today from InfoWorld re Google's "breakthrough"
database-in-the-sky "which will make conventional databases go the way of the rotary phone." Google tests 'revolutionary' cloud-based database http://www.infoworld.com/d/data-management/google-tests-revolutionary-cloud-based-database-290?source=IFWNLE_nlt_daily_2009-06-12 I don't think Tim should quake in his boots just yet. The hype sort of reminds me of all the predictions that "artificial intelligence" had arrived in the '60s and '70s. We're still waiting. Jerry |

Fernando Dias Team Elevate | Jerry,
A Google search by "fusion tables" returned as first result this link: http://www.fusiontables.com I'm sure it can really improve our productivity while working on database applications. -- Fernando Dias [Team Elevate] |

"Jerry Clancy" | They don't explode if you accidentally slam two of the pool tables together,
do they? Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Jerry,
<< They don't explode if you accidentally slam two of the pool tables together, do they? >> Ha ! Who would have guessed that the solution to all our energy woes was a special type of pool table ? Just nit, though - wouldn't that be "fission tables" instead ? -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

"Jerry Clancy" | As I recall, fusion of hydrogen atoms is achieved be creating either
enormously high temps or similar extraordinary pressures to overcome the force of protons naturally repelling one another. I might be wrong, but I think the first hydrogen bombs actually used an atomic bomb as a trigger to achieve this. Not exactly appropriate for a controlled reaction to produce electricity. They've got fusion experiments going on right here in Princeton. << Not exactly appropriate for a controlled reaction to produce electricity. >> "Okay, Bob, I'm going to detonate the bomb, we run like hell, and if we don't evaporate, we should be able to run the coffee maker, and the eastern US, for free for the next 1000 years." << They've got fusion experiments going on right here in Princeton. >> Yeah, I've been reading a lot about them lately. I find the pursuit of new energy sources to be fascinating. I believe they've got a monster-laser type of setup in California as well as in France where they're also doing fusion research. Here's to hoping that they make it work. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Like a schoolkid who told a windfarm guy that he would get more speed, meaning more energy, if he mounted the blades of his fan, like those that hang from the ceiling. The kid was right so expect windfarms with a different look Rita |
