>I prefer PerfectDisk 2008. I'll check it out >For searching I use 'Windows Search.' >http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/default.ms >px but it uses indexing. I don't know if its just my install, or a general Vista feature, but with indexing turned off Windows Find 1) often seems not to find files that are there 2) sometimes never completes a search and 3) about 25% of the time crashes. I have no desire to turn indexing on, don't need the overhead, and on the few occasions I do want to search am happy to wait. I wonder why M$ keep inflicting these things on us? Roy Lambert |

>If you ever do run into slow performance problems then just move all data >from the DataTank share to your PC and then move it back to DataTank - it'll >basically force the filesystem to defrag all the files since they're coming >in proper order. If I ever do fill it up I wonder how long it takes to move 1Tb of data Thanks for the research and info. Roy Lambert |

Lance Rasmussen Jazzie Software Team Elevate | Roy,
Diskkeeper is a big one. It's down the street from my relatives when I visit just a couple blocks from the Burbank, CA airport. I've switched, however, to Raxco's PerfectDisk. They released a new one, with an edition that works with VM's. I think it performs much better, plus I can have it defrag internally, externally and then shrink the VM disk. WinGrep works pretty well for files. I HATE REGISTRY CLEANERS.... Never met one I liked. Lance Rasmussen Jazzie Software Team Elevate | Agree with you David regarding PerfectDisk. I use their new VM edition and
it works great. "David" <dpuett@mac.com> wrote in message news:C479FFBF.2AE01%dpuett@mac.com... >I prefer PerfectDisk 2008. > |
