David | Looking for a component to send emails & SMS messages in D7 & D2007.
Would prefer to have a well known component author like Dev Express, LMD, or such but all suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance. Cheers, David |

Eryk Bottomley | David,

Sending email is a basic socket function that almost any of the major component sets can handle - Indy (best known) and Synapse (what I use) for example. As for SMS, this is mostly a hardware issue rather than a component one. Personally I use Synapse for this as well because I use an RS232 serial link to send AT commands to the cellular modem that sends the SMS. If you were sending SMS via a web based gateway instead then you would probably use an HTTP component. Eryk |

Hove you tried searching the borland newsgroups, I seem to recall questions of this nature being asked there. I think it was in thirdparty but I've zapped that from my machine. Roy Lambert |

You register the product by sending the author a real snail mail picture postcard. To send SMS I'm using an SMS gateway server (e.g. in New Zealand - pcsms.co.nz ) and using the same email software (or M$ Outlook) I simply send an email to the phone number with the message in the subject or body. e.g. to my cellphone in Rarotonga, +68270366@pcsms.co.nz Kia Manuia Jeff -- Jeff Cook Aspect Systems Ltd www.aspect.co.nz + Joan and Jeff Cook The Cooks Oasis www.cookislandsoasis.com |

"Stuart Kelly" | Hi David,
