Installing DBISAM in D2009 with D5 installed |

"Jerry Clancy" | I installed v.428 into D5 Ent. a bit ago but today I purchased and installed
D2009 (RAD Studio). However, I want to run them in parallel until I'm comfortable with D2009 (and because of legacy issues). How do I obtain a 4.28 version for D2009 and install it? I assume that 428b4dbisamvclstdsrcd5.exe is for D5. Jerry |

When I go to the download page I get to choose my Delphi environment. You should be able to find the version for D2009 there. I've currently downloaded (& installed) the versions for D2006 & D2009. "Jerry Clancy" | Thanks, Jon. Did that yesterday but I don't get any choices on environment
and the downloads are for D5. Tim, how do I do this? "Jerry Clancy" | Yes. Problem solved. I've got the downloads. Using the "Customers" link in
Tim's last announcement email, which automatically logs you in, I don't seem to get a choice (though I may try it again just to confirm this). So I went in from the elevatesoft home page and that approach did give me the choices. Thanks, nonetheless, for the response. "Jerry Clancy" | Just tried again using the "Customers" link and it worked. Must be losing it
here. Didn't want to worry Tim. I must not have clicked through the product link late last night. Jerry |

Jon Lloyd Duerdoth | Jerry,
I would be interested in your experiences with getting D2009 up to speed with previous applications... I've only just started myself and have most of my 3rd party stuff installed. However, have yet to get any major apps converted. JonD Jerry Clancy wrote: > Just tried again using the "Customers" link and it worked. Must be > losing it here. Didn't want to worry Tim. "Jerry Clancy" | Jon,
That's about where I'm at. Have all the major pieces installed -- IW, TMS, Rave, DBISAM, etc. -- and now down to a few extraneous packages like ICS and other small components. Not sure what to do about my old Apollo stuff (D5) which I need for legacy and conversion apps. Worst case is I just relegate those to D5. I do have the source, however. One thing I have done is eliminated many packages I haven't used in years, some of which are now open source like Orpheus, Async, and OnGuard, and Rubicon, etc. I'm hoping to bring one of our major apps into D2009 this weekend. Will let you know how it goes. Spent a few hours looking for the component palette before it occurred to me that, unlike D5, you might have to have a project open. Bingo! Fernando Dias Team Elevate | Jerry, Jon
I'm in the same boat I've just tried the conversion of a small D2006 app, and the very first issues I'm dealing with are: 1. Need to replace some PChar/String with PAnsiChar/AnsiString when calling a few windows api functions. 2. Flat TDBNavigator buttons don't paint correctly if Xp Themes are enabled This one can be corrected applying Andy's VCL fix pack: http://andy.jgknet.de/blog 3. The colours of the Panels have a strange behaviour, that I couldn't yet understand, when we change the color to clBtnFace and XpThemes are enabled. 4. As far as I can see, and contrary to what Marco Cantu's book says, TDBImage only supports BMP format, exactly as the previous versions. TImage supports jpeg, png and gif also. 5. Need to replace "vcljpg" with "vclimg" in packages that are using the VCLJPG package because it doesn't exist anymore. So far so good, let's see what's next ... -- Fernando Dias [Team Elevate] |

"Jerry Clancy" | Good to know.
I'm having more serious problems now that I'm trying to move my existing D5 projects into D2009. None of the 3rd-party packages are showing up in the Tool Palette when I open and existing D5 projects in D2009. And, so far anyway, my posts to some groups about how to add these packages, already installed, to the project have met with either silence of suggestions to check library paths, which are already OK. I think I'm in for some tough sledding.
