Problems with Full Text Search in 4.25 Build 7 |

Sam Jones | Hello!
We have been using 4.25 Build 6 (and earlier builds, of course). Due to the fixes related in Full Text indexing in Build 7, we tried it out. Issues and questions: 1) The only way we know to add or rebuild a full text index is like this: alter table globaladdresslisting TEXT INDEX (Address1, Address2, City, PostalCode, FirstName, LastName, Company, Phone, EMail) 2) How do we drop the full text index? 3) How can we fully rebuild an existing full text index? On build 6, if we did the SQL above, the index was fully rebuilt. On build 7, if the index exists, nothing seems to be done. Please advise! So far, we feel we should avoid Build 7.... |

<< Due to the fixes related in Full Text indexing in Build 7, we tried it out. >> There was one fix, and it was an extremely minor one. << 2) How do we drop the full text index? >> Do you have more than one person posting from your company ? If so, then please try to limit the postings to one person so that I'm not answering the same question twice: http://www.elevatesoft.com/scripts/newsgrp.dll?action=openmsg&group=5&msg=59973&page=1#msg59973 << 3) How can we fully rebuild an existing full text index? On build 6, if we did the SQL above, the index was fully rebuilt. On build 7, if the index exists, nothing seems to be done. >> This is not correct. This has been this way for as long as I can remember. I checked a backup from February of this year and the code is exactly the same. << So far, we feel we should avoid Build 7.... >> You are way off base - there is absolutely nothing wrong with Build 7. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
