DBISAM and ReportBuilder's end user Report Designer |

Gary M | Hello,
Anyone is using end user Report Designer with DBISAM database? The DBISAM tables used in the demo are outdated and you have to upgrade them in order to make it work. Also, I'm having hard time making DBISAMSession available as an option in BDS 2006. I managed to make things work before and now after upgrading RB to version 10.05 I lost the DBISAMSession again. He may be able to update the tables in their distributions. Apart from the tables, however, the rest should work the same. << Also, I'm having hard time making DBISAMSession available as an option in BDS 2006. Jon Lloyd Duerdoth | I can't speak to the demo files...
However, with the latest DBISAM and v10.x of ReportBuilder my apps work without issue. Gary M | Thanks for the reply. I'm talking to Nard to solve another issue I'm havinbg with RB and will mention about DBISAM tables version as well.
>> What do you mean that you "lost" it ? I'm talking about TppDesigner.DataSettings.SessionType property. After enabling DBISAM support in Report Designer by following the instructions you get DBISAMSession available as an option for SessionType drop down box. That's what I could not get after upgrading to 10.05. I just uninstalled RebortBuilder and cleanup my computer from remaining files and reinstalled ReportBuilder again and this time everything seems to be working fine and I can see DBISAMSession again. I'll ask Nard to upgrade DBISAM tables to the latest version and revise the readme file since it's talking about DBISAM 2.03 |

I believe he's working on, or has completed, an adapter for the new ElevateDB also. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Gary M | <<Ahh, okay. I'm not entirely familiar with the ReportBuilder products, so
you'll have to forgive my ignorance. >> No problem. IMHO I think it's a good idea to keep an eye on ReportBuilder and make sure their DBISAM demos are compatible with the latest version of DBISAM or ElevateDB. The main reason is that a lot of developers trying to test available database management systems with their reporting and UI tools to make sure they can work together before making a decision on what DBMS to get. Having problems running ReportBuilder DBISAM demos at the first attempt may discourage some people. Cheers, Gary |

There are a lot of 3rd party products that provide DBISAM adapters, and making sure that they all work is a full-time job for someone. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
