I would like to ask if you have found some solution for this problem. I made test application with different "locale" - czech and ansi, and this has no effect. The reported problem is still there. There are some reports from others that are having a similar problem with other file-sharing database installations, but nobody seems to know what is causing it. I was just taking a guess at the possible reason for the problem when you initially reported it. Since then I've checked Google and everywhere else I can find, and I've found some people complaining about problems such as this on Google Groups, but no definitive answer from anyone at MS regarding if there is indeed an issue with the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol (used for file-sharing in Windows) between Windows XP and earlier Windows 9x versions. I've got a clunker Windows 9x machine that I can try it on, but I first need to get it all configured, etc. and that will take a few days. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

There are well known issues with network drivers on older systems - a few bytes here and there may cause all sorts of hassle. I wrote a tool to give the network a hammering to see if it can cope. thank for coperating on my problem. I have downloaded your tool and tryied it at my customer. There were no errors during file transfer, so the problem is not in drivers or bad network I supose. My tool may of course not show it, but it is a good sign. You should run
it for a fair period, and exercise the network in other ways too at the same time to make sure it is stable. /Matthew Jones/ |
