Importing from an ODBC-datasource |

John | Tim,
I have also search google for such a tool without result. So guys, go ahead make a product that imports and exports between an odbc-datasource and DBISAM! And please remember to include a schedule-function "Tim Young [Elevate Software]" <timyoung@elevatesoft.com> wrote: John, << I need to import into existing tables from an odbc-datasource on a daily basis. >> In that case, any utility which allows import/export between ODBC data sources should work. Unfortunately, I've done several Google searches and I can't seem to find any generic tools or utilities that allow for this. There must be at least one somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. If there isn't one, then that sounds like a niche that someone could fill with a product. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Graham Wood | I made one for v3. It was in the customer-submitted code section AGES ago. A complete
wizard driven jobbie that goes out as part of an app we did. To compile it, you need ODBCExpress and DBISAM. It was based on code from the Turbopower FastFiler import utility program. If you want, I can re-make it and post the source. BUT... the bummer part is that it doesn't really handle append/update etc. very elegantly. It just basically always appends - I'm such a quick/dirty code monkey So... we just use EMS QuickImport. A.Mazing component. You can create (and then save) templates, at runtime, which will make 'any' import job a two click affair. Best money you'll ever spend. Your clients will think you're a rocket scientist too And totally trivial to make a standalone app, as it already comes with the code for one. Use the ADO connection to get to ODBC.
