CASE tools and DBISAM support? |

"Lauchlan M" | Just wondering - if you were going in to a new DBISAM database produced by
somebody else and wanted to get a quick idea of its structure (ie, basically reverse engineer it from the tables so you can see the relations graphically), what tools support DBISAM 4? I was looking at CASE Studio 2, http://www.casestudio.com/enu/default.aspx , but that seems to have only DBISAM 3 support: http://www.casestudio.com/enu/databases.aspx Thx in advance. Lauchlan M |

I see someone has written some support for DBISAM 4, but not for reverse engineering yet - http://www.casestudio.com/enu/dudbs.aspx I guess someone needs to write some Case Studio extensions for DBISAM 4 reengineering, if they haven't been written already. Any other solutions/products for reverse engineering DBISAM 4? Lauchlan M |

Michael Baytalsky | > Any other solutions/products for reverse engineering DBISAM 4? Try our Context Database Designer/Extensions (http://www.contextsoft.com/) It supports dbisam3&4 and Nexus 1. NX2 support will be released this week with 2.03 version. It has reverse engineering for everything, including SQL scripts. It also does more then CASE Studio in some areas at only fraction of cost. Context Database Extensions components provide access to schema information at run time and automatic check/update database structure based on differences between versions of database schema. Regards, Michael |

Great! I'll look into it! Lauchlan M |

"David Farrell-Garcia" | I recommend the Context tools. I would get the 2.xx beta version for
that. It is near completion and is stable for me. |

I have CS2, and it is not without it's problems and shortcomings, although for the $$ it is a deal. > I guess someone needs to write some Case Studio extensions for DBISAM 4 > reengineering, if they haven't been written already. If you wish to commit to DBISAM and want a design tool, then you should also commit to Michael's products. And it sounds like you are already looking at them. -- Neal Laugman |

Awesome product. Even better support. You'll very quickly wonder how the hell you ever managed without it. HTH, Graham W. |
