I've just tried setting a master-detail relationship using a compound index with a descending part of the index and the IDE chokes on it telling me there isn't an index for the field Index is integer ; timestamp desc D6SP2 Roy Lambert |

<< I've just tried setting a master-detail relationship using a compound index with a descending part of the index and the IDE chokes on it telling me there isn't an index for the field Index is integer ; timestamp desc >> It's a Borland compatibility thing. You can't use descending indexes with master-detail links. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Oh yes you can - at least if the first part is not descending and that's all you use Roy Lambert |

<< Oh yes you can - at least if the first part is not descending and that's all you use >> I know it *can* be done (, it's just that the standard index functionality for dealing with linkages like this in the db.pas unit specifically excludes descending indexes. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
