John and Roy I took it as UltraEdit can switch it around via
end of lines and so on sorta like pointers.

Iam off to their site now I have heard about this tool before
and its under $50 so maybe worth a free look.

Either that or Alan has found a new way to get a girls knicks
off that has not worked on me Wink

Mmm, and if the $50 is an issue, you couild look at the free
Notepad++ which has so many capabilities it can take me *minutes* to
find the one I want!

Rita;
Although
getting the girls knichers off is still a delightful event. It's only theory now.  Ultra Edit is great. I’m on a project where I get 5milliom lines. If I have
to replace anything in a file that large Ultra edit does the job.  as for the code   ^t  = TAB,  ^p   =  Carriage return

As my text file went like below

Glastonbury
BA6
Castle Cary
BA7
Templecombe
BA8
Wincanton
BA9

5,000 + lines I set up a macro and ran it to eof.
Worked 1st time best macro tool I ever used
Winkor should that be one I could use.

Pity I had already done it. Never mind I will now

In fact I am setting off for England first thing in the morning....
.... but, relax, I am heading for the other side of the country
(Sheffield).  Well, that's if the English drivers will get off the
(snowy) roads and let me through.

But seriously, other than the free bit, I like that it knows all
those languages.  One tool to make sense of all those source files.

But it does have the 2GB file size limit so it falls over on a full
year's worth of web logs (for which I use ConTEXT).

Well I am a good 2½, maybe 3 hours from Roy, given decent road
conditions and some emergency braking as I pass the hidden 'safety'
camera at Dunblane.

Must retire .. early start.

Safely home now.  Missed all the snow.
Well, if it takes me 4:15-4:30 to drive to Sheffield and 3'ish to
you, you can figure I am normally in Bonnie Scotland.  Surprised
