Thread ElevateDB Manager column detail list

It would be nice to have a detail list of all column properties at a
glance as in DBSys. Maybe a detail view like in Explorer?

That's nice to know Roy but its an extremely clunky alternative to the
very convenient detail view in DBSys.

Agreed, but remember two things a) EDBManager is still a baby - it hasn't grown up yet ad b) what do you expect from someone who has his head stuck up the internals of a database engine Smiley

Just so you know, you could also define this as a view so that you could
simply double-click on it in the treeview and open it as needed.

Yes but then I'd have to create a view for every table I ever use.
Still very inconvenient. And anyway Roy's query does not show
secondary indexes. So I'd have to create another view for every table
to show the index properties as well. If you have an icon view you
should also have a detail view that's standard Windows UI.

We do have a detail view.  The issue is that you can't fit all of the
information that you want in a single list without resorting to forcing the
user to scroll to the right every time to see anything of value.  That is
why we have the basic information in the detail view along with the very
detailed information in the task pane information box on the left.

When I say detail view I am thinking of Windows Explorer. You detail
view is more like a properties window. In Windows Explorer the left
pane is an object tree view. The right pane has icon view (like in EDB
Manager), list and detail. The detail view has each object on a single
row with all its details just as in DBSys. In Explorer you have a
choice of which view you want to use. In EDB Manager you are forced to
always use icon view.

I have never had problems with scrolling to the right in DBSys.

My apologies, I forgot that in 1.06 I sort of "hid" that functionality a
little bit.  Right-click on the properties window's tab and you will see an
option to set the view to icons, list, or detail.

Ah there we go! But how about adding View menu with these menu items
there as well? And/or adding a Views button like in Explorer?
