I went to the web site, and it has some error message about
configuration. Another big breakdown I guess. Good job software isn't
their core competency.

It has been down for me since Saturday.
This morning I got connected and picked up one new post .. then it
vanished again.
Fortunately I am not waiting for any answers!

Maybe they're switching to twice annual release cycle also - you can
post and read 2 times per year Smile

Issue as i recall is that the forums is a highly customized version of
3rd party product - they're unable to update it since it's radically
different from vendors version at this point and of course migrating it
to something else would be massive undertaking as well so it gets
minimal resources.

Plus last time (not long ago) it went down, it came up, people posted,
and then they reset to a different backup, thus losing the postings.
Awaiting stability will be wise for anything important.

As we've said before I think Tim should sell them his - I don't know how well it would stand up under the load but Tim's are certainly off-line a lot less.

Having done a number of data migrations I don't think migrating the current stuff should be such a big deal unless current and future file systems are an abomination.

The current ones are a mess, they break threading, muck up formatting and seem to break down frequently. They should have been changed years ago.
