>Wow! >You finally discovered why your overnight stay awake, didn't? Well, no. But I have discovered how to stop it crashing by handling WM_POWERBROADCAST and turning the blinking on/off appropriately. I think the ultimate reason is buried somewhere in the VCL and creating a window when the screen isn't active but who knows. Roy |

Matthew Jones | The web site is up, but I'm not getting anything on nntp (it logs in,
but perhaps there is nothing there to get...). -- Matthew Jones |

I suspect they don't care much, even if someone is working hard on it. Up and down more times than a $%"(*&"NO CARRIER -- Matthew Jones |

Calm down and remember "please hold, your call is important to us" as they say in all the best call centres as they keep you holding for 40 minutes or more. Roy Lambert |

Roy Lambert NLH Associates Team Elevate | The "good news" is that I'm still getting emails asking me to upgrade.
The current offer makes even less financial sense: Delphi Pto £705 Discount 45% Discounted cost £387.75 Now add the mandatory 1 year maintenance £212 and you get a real discount of 15% Keeping D2006 I get a discount of 100%. I do know that at some point I'll have to upgrade But I'm putting off the evil day as long as possible unless something nice is introduced. Roy Lambert |

I actually wonder if computing in general has hit a peak. It seems that everywhere I turn companies are beginning to take away some of the features that they previously gave. Microsoft have dropped a number of the features they've introduced in the past - and I even saw this in Delphi. (Removing the 'auto increment build option' when I upgraded to XE2) was a small one. Then there was Kylix, BOLD, etc... I end up getting nervous now with new features - I don't know which way to go - or whether what I choose will be supported in years to come, or let go. I think after the response I've gotten from the other thread it seems as though there's very little incentive to upgrade for myself and a lot of pro's sticking with what I already know. Sad - I remember the days gone by of going to the Borland conferences, eagerly anticipating the new features and components. It seems as though they've lost touch with the fundamentals that made Delphi - the IDE, and VCL platform. I have no issues with adding on - provided they don't take away (or screw up) the former. They really need someone like Tim on board - a visionary who's actually got some ideas of what the average Joe developer really wants, and still supports his original work (aka DBISAM)! But they can't have him - we need him here. Cheers Adam. |

Ran across this in another NG which is and update from J.Frazier on Aug 15th =============================== All forums down until I get hardware upgrade, data migrated, and data massaged back into shape. I am confident I can bring them back and stable. I am working out hardware issues with IT as we speak. Feel free to let others know and if you have FB, Twitter, feel free to quote me. I don't have an exact ETA but I can assure you I have been all over this problem nonstop since it was brought to me Tuesday afternoon. To give you an idea, yesterday was a 20 hour day! Sorry for the delay as I am doing everything humanly possible. jmf John Frazier Embarcadero Developer Support =============================== |
