The problem is, that the EWB units itself use a lot of companies internal library stuff. Right now I'm still updating from EWB1 to EWB2. But you can send me an email (ch.kaufmann at geologix.ch) and I send you a copy of the relevant server and client side .pas files. cu Christian |

>Yes, it certainly is. However, I think you're underestimating how much Delphi has been changing since D7. Every year it gets harder and harder to justify support for Delphi versions that are 10+ years old, especially as they lack some critical features that impede doing new things in the base product without some seriously convoluted IFDEF'ing of the code base. And I for one am pleasantly surprised that you do so. Roy Lambert |

>You, and others, seem to be under the impression that pre-Delphi XE users outnumber Delphi 7 users. This may have been the case several years ago, but not now. I understand the sentiment (I think) but I LOVE it as you've typed it <VBG> Roy Lambert |

There are many more combined XE* downloads than all of the Delphi/C++Builder products prior to XE. Interesting discussion - for example i have D2007, Xe2, Xe7, Xe8 still running in various VMs (and in the process of setting up D10 Seattle) So i I download lot of XE files vs pre-XE ones: ratio is 1:3 in Xe favour and about to become 1:4. However my main dev environment is still in D2007 with various Xe versions used maybe 20% total time (mostly Xe8 these days but i still like to keep others updated). Raul NB! This does not even take into account me being lazy and just re-downloading the installers if i can't instantly find them locally (really like the new faster hosting you switched to while ago |

Bill | I'm using many delphi versions in different VMs for every existing application with a little customer base.
Some efforts in migrating to a single delphi version has had some problems and so I prefer this solution. I'm using EWB in a project with MS VS 2010 internet back-end and I know (and pray) that it could be used a delphi based back-end but, sometimes, my customers want decide technologies. So, I wrote and write a lot of code in C# for all transactions but it could be done (with much time...). As Tim time, my time is important and I think that an application (that could be more and more complex than other we could write without EWB) could pay a Delphi license. Delphi is not perfect but it works and, in the years, goes on. With delphi modules, EWB back-end is a breeze but delphi is not necessary. I think EWB is like Delphi 1 twenty years later: it permits the building of a rich client js application with high quality and little effort. In other words, if our customer like having a simple web app that costs zero or little, we can write it from ground and pay (or our customer pay...) with our time for reinventing the wheel. So Tim, in my opinion, could work on EWB2 and give time in developing more functions for the JS client. Lazarus and Code Typhon compatible modules are a chance but better works on EWB. My 2c. p.s. hoping Sam'll be better asap |

I often *download* them when *they're on our LAN*. I find myself just doing more and more in the browser because it's just usually where I'm already at. At the moment with Sam I think you have every right to "screw up" occasionally, especially when it gives me a chuckle. Roy Lambert |
