# 3380 CAST with DATE FORMAT Clause Not Working Correctly without Date Delimiters

Using the DATE FORMAT clause to format date strings works if a date delimiter ('-','/') is included, but doesn't if no date delimiter is used.

Works:

SELECT CAST(lastInvoiceDate AS VARCHAR DATE FORMAT 'mm/dd/yyyy') FROM Customer

Doesn't work:

SELECT CAST(lastInvoiceDate AS VARCHAR DATE FORMAT 'mmddyyyy') FROM Customer
