# 225 Filters That Use Descending Indexes for Optimization Not Working Properly

Setting a filter on a date field does not actually cause a sub-set of data to be returned as the filter is not being obeyed. This was working in versions 1.03 and 1.04

Comments

Problem was with the optimizer exposing a bug when setting a filter using a > (greater than) or < (less than) operator and the filter uses a descending index for the optimization. Internally the descending indexes were not being accounted for properly in the optimizer.

Resolution

Fixed Problem on 9/27/1998 in version 1.06 build 1
