# 1696Altering the Locale of a Table Can Cause Index Corruption If Locale Change Causes Duplicate Keys Altering the locale of a table from one locale to another during an AlterTable method or SQL ALTER TABLE statement execution can cause index corruption if the locale change causes duplicate index keys (i.e. German Phone Book locale to German (Switzerland) when accents like "ü" are the only distinguishing difference between string keys.
