# 1917 SQL and Filter Expression Parsing Allowing LENGTH() Function to Be Used on Binary BLOB Fields

It is possible to use LENGTH for a BLOB field. The doc says that LENGTH is only valid for string or memo columns or constants. I tried to get the amount of data in a BLOB field, but I always get a 4.

Comments and Workarounds

The workaround falls into the "don't do that" category.

Fixed Problem on 12/8/2004 in version 4.16 build 1
