# 4656 Enabling File I/O Buffering Can Cause a #601 Error with Certain I/O Patterns

I'm getting this error in an application:

Elevate Error #601 The file <FileName> is corrupt (Error reading file blocks into cache)

The error occurs in a procedure that includes code to perform an import of data.

The I/O pattern in this case was a loop that was importing data and using Locate calls on the same table that was being appended to.
